MUFG Seminar "A New Era for Investing in Japan — Structural Changes and the Investment Opportunities Ahead —

Robert Alan Feldman is Senior Advisor to the Research Department of Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities,where he has worked since 1998, focusing on thematic research on the Japanese economy. Outside of his work at Morgan Stanley, he became an Outside Director at Tokio Marine Holdings in June 2023, and has been engaged in teaching and research as a professor at Tokyo University of Science in the Management of Technology program since 2017. Outside his main work, he has previously served as a member of the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission and appeared as a regular commentator on “World Business Satellite” (TV Tokyo network) from 2000 to 2020.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, he served as Chief Economist at Salomon Brothers Asia Securities from 1990 to 1997 and as an Economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 1983 to 1989. He has a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has published eleven books (two in English, nine in Japanese) and has also translated four books from Japanese to English. He first came to Japan as a high school exchange student.

Jim Caron is CIO of the Portfolio Solutions Group.
He has 34 years of industry experience and joined Morgan Stanley in 2006. Previously, he was a portfolio manager and head of global macro strategies on the Fixed Income Team of Morgan Stanley Investment Management.
He also held the position of Global Head of Interest Rates, Foreign Exchange, and Emerging Markets Strategy with Morgan Stanley Research. Before joining Morgan Stanley, he was a director at Merrill Lynch where he headed the U.S. Interest Rate Strategy Group. Prior to that, he also held various trading positions in rates and option products at J.P. Morgan.
He earned a B.A. in physics from Bowdoin College, a B.S. in aeronautical engineering from the California Institute of Technology, and an M.B.A. from New York University.

Naotaka Ikeda joined Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. in April 2005. After joining the company, he worked in the Listing Examination Department before assuming his current position in June 2010. He oversees rulemaking and other matters related to the overall listing system at the TSE, including review of market segmentation, studies towards the enhancement of corporate governance, and the development of systems involved in the fostering of startups.

After joining BNP Paribas (Tokyo) in 2000, Mr. Ciganer worked as a credit analyst and M&A advisor before joining T. Rowe Price Japan, Inc. as a research analyst in 2007.
For over a decade, he was the fund manager for the Japan Equity Strategy and CIO of the Investment Division, leading a number of investment projects in both public and private stocks.
In particular, since 2018, he has been involved in many late-stage company investment deals that pioneered crossover investing in Japan.
He has also been supporting the growth of Japan’s startup ecosystem through various initiatives such as serving as a judge for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's "Deep Ecosystem".
He has served as Managing Partner at Artemis Ventures, Ltd. since February 2026.

Ko Hatazawa joined Mitsubishi UFJ Asset Management Co., Ltd. in 2007.
After a secondment to MUAM UK (London), he has worked as a Japanese equity analyst since 2013 and as a Japanese equity fund manager since 2017. He currently serves as team leader of the Japan Equity Core Value Strategy Team.
